Origami Paper Crafting Night October 17, 6:00 p.m.
Join us at the library to learn how to fold Origami flowers during our paper crafting night. Emily's Papercrafts will be on site to teach us how to make the flowers pictured. All materials will be provided, but space is limited. To register for the class email the library at: library@vintonia.govThis event is for adults, but children 12 and up may attend with an adult. City Hall to Receive a Mural at Community Painting Party
The diagonal back wall of City Hall will be receiving a flowery paint job when community volunteers are invited in to paint it on Saturday evening, September 28, 2024. The mural, designed by Dandeena Schadle, will feature a variety of flowers and related nature items. A children’s “Under the Sea” mural, designed by Renae Patterson, will also be completed on a panel to be installed on the back wall of Pourville Art Studio & Gallery. The Vinton graduates of Lincoln High School will hold a class reunion for the Class of of 1952. The classmates will be celebrating with their classmates at a reunion on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at the Vinton Pizza Ranch located at 219 W. 4th St in Vinton. Lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m.

Washington High School graduates from the class of 1979 will be holding their 45th Class Reunion!FRIDAY 9/20:Homecoming Football Game – Wear your colors. If you can fit into your letter jacket, band uniform, cheerleading outfit, or football pads, wear them! SATURDAY 9/21:The Vinton Cruise will be from 4-6PM. The Vinton Public Library will host author George Khal on Thursday, September 19 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. The library is located at 510 2nd Ave. in Vinton. The Center Point Historical Society is hosting an in-person “chat room” about Nature on Sunday, September 15, at 2:00 p.m. at the Depot Museum.Come share your nature stories—animal, vegetable, or mineral—in a very informal discussion group. Photos and other items for adult “show and tell” are welcome.The Historical Society theme this year is Natural History and the Museum is crawling with bug and butterfly collections, as well as arrowhead, rock, fossil and conservation displays.

The Benton County Historic Preservation Commission will host a Flea Market on Saturday, September 28 at the Celebration Park from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It will feature every facet of a traditional flea market including antiques and uniques, direct sales and marketing and local community groups and foundations. Protecting savings and assets becomes increasingly important as people age, and unfortunately, older adults can be attractive targets for fraudsters.To help protect local citizens from fraud, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will host “Stay Independent: Spot, Stop and Avoid Fraud,” on Tuesday, September 24 at 10AM at Vinton Public Library, 510 2nd Ave in Vinton, IA.
